pratt ashworthCommander Pratt Ashworth welcomed a large crowd to Memorial Day at the Cave Creek Cemetery to honor our Fallen Heros.  The Cave Creek Legion Post places an American Flag at each grave site.

The speaker was Saige Williams shown below with her father Jay.  Saige spoke about the Veterans Heritage Project founded as a club project at Cactus Shadows High School through a grant from the Salt River Project to record the stories of veterans' service to our nation.

Saige was inspired by 2006 Memorial Day speaker Navy Commander Dan Anyrim.  She applied for and received a NORTC Nurse scholarship to the University Of Arizona.  Saige will graduate in 2016 and be commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.

Saige commented, “Please remember to honor our servicemen and women through the year.  We thank you for your service. To the veterans who died for our freedom, thank you for your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten.”
