Continued citizen participation urged regarding smart meters
Docket No. E-00000C-11-0328 will remain open until votes are taken
PHOENIX – The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) listened to testimony from Arizonans who attended live and telephonically from all over the state on March 23 during its open meeting workshop on meter guidelines, originally scheduled for three hours but later amended to an open-ended, all-day affair.
The ACC workshop format, addressing smart meters, allowed an open exchange between ACC commissioners and staff, citizens and electrical utility representatives in an effort for the utilities division to come up with draft meter guidelines.
The utilities also listened to specific concerns raised by customers during the hearing and vowed to follow up with those people individually.
Because this was simply a workshop to exchange information, no votes were taken.
However, the commission discussed the possibility of scheduling another open hearing during which votes may be taken but has not yet set a date.
According to the ACC, Docket No. E-00000C-11-0328 will remain open until votes are taken.
Meanwhile, citizens are urged to continue submitting their views and information on the subject to the ACC to that open docket.
