Wild West Days Walk for 100 honors families of fallen officers, firefighters, service men and women
Frontier Town Hosts Firefighter Chili Challenge
CAVE CREEK – On Saturday, November 5 at 9 a.m., Cave Creek’s Wild West Days will host the Walk for 100 in honor of those who dedicated their lives serving and protecting the United States. During the walk, which will extend from the west to the east end of Cave Creek on Cave Creek Road, hundreds of walkers and horse riders – led by Rural Metro and Southwest Ambulance personnel – will walk in silence to honor the fallen. Family members of the fallen and disabled will be attending the Walk for 100. Visit www.WildWestDaysCaveCreek.com for a registration form.
The Walk, which benefits the Arizona 100 Club, will help the families of fallen police officers and firefighters who were killed or became disabled serving their communities and nation.
Afterward, a cowboy prayer and chuck wagon breakfast will be held at the Buffalo Chip Saloon. The public is welcome to be a part of this event.
Firefighter Chili Challenge
Chili is a fall favorite but for Arizona firefighters and first responders, it is a way to give back to the community. On Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (yes, you can have chili right after the Walk for 100), Frontier Town, a signature Cave Creek establishment for more than 40 years, will host firefighters and first responders as they cook their favorite red chili recipes all day for the chance to win great prizes. Chili aficionados from the general public are encouraged to enter the contest, which costs only $10. There is no entry fee for firefighters.
Proceeds from the entry fees and tasting samples, which are $5 for five tasting tickets, will benefit the Cave Creek Heritage Foundation, the 100 Club and Cub Scout Pack 548. Chili makers must provide their own equipment and awnings and be on-hand to serve their chili from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Frontier Town, which is located in the center of Cave Creek at 6245 E. Cave Creek Road.
The prize categories and first place cash prizes are:
• Firefighters: People’s Choice award ($400), Judges’ award ($200)
• Other entrants: People’s Choice award ($250), Judges’ award ($150)
