Desert HillsAfter The Homestretch Arizona (ATHA) has been granted the much coveted accreditation from TAA, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Lexington, Kentucky, that serves as both the accrediting body for aftercare facilities nationwide that care for Thoroughbreds following the conclusion of their racing careers and as a fundraising body to support those approved facilities.

“These organizations have gone through a rigorous accreditation process and have met or exceeded our Code of Standards,” praised Jimmy Bell, TAA president. “Our donors should feel confident that their investments in the TAA are going to organizations that provide the best care possible to our retired equine athletes.”

ATHA is one of only 2 TAA accredited aftercare organizations in Arizona, and the only one that is specifically focussed on the re-homing of former racehorses which they have fully rehabilitated and trained at their Desert Hills facility ready to enjoy new "careers" in their new homes.

To earn accreditation, ATHA went through a rigorous process of being evaluated in 5 key areas - Operations, Education, Horse Healthcare Management, Facility Standards and Services, and Adoption Policies and Protocols - and underwent an extensive site visit from a TAA inspector.

"We are thrilled to have received this prestigeous accreditation from the Nation's premier organization dedicated to the aftercare and welfare of former racehorses", said Dannielle Marturana, ATHA's Founder and President, "To have our efforts recognized in this way is not only a wonderful testament to the efforts of our great team of volunteers but will help us enormously in continuing to provide the best possible care for our equine athletes through a greater access to grants and to a nationwide network of aftercare providers in TAA's extensive network of some 56 organizations throughout the USA and Canada".
