Annual "Walk to Save Animals” and PetFest offer family- and dog-friendly fun while saving lives

Event will go for the Guinness Book of World Records as largest gathering of adopted shelter animals

This event will be one for the Record Books! The state’s oldest and largest no-kill animal shelter is trying to set a Guinness Book World Record for having the “Largest Gathering of Adopted Shelter Animals in One Location” at this year’s “Walk to Save Animals” and PetFest. Bring your adopted pet to Tempe Town Lake to be part of the official count!


What: “Walk to Save Animals,” a family- and dog-friendly event to benefit the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA, the state’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter.

• Presenting Sponsor: Pet Club
• 2K & 5K pet walks with prizes
• PetFest featuring blessings of your pet, pet caricatures, and photos of your pet with Mr and Mrs. Claus
• Adoptable dogs from AAWL
• Up-close interactions with exotic pet ambassadors from the AAWL & SPCA Education Department

When: Sat., Nov. 7, 2015, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (registration starts at 7:00 a.m.)
Where: Tempe Beach Park at Tempe Town Lake, 80 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281
Cost: Raise or donate a minimum of $35 to participate in the walk. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to form walk teams and raise money through pledges on their own personal team page.

Admission to the PetFest is free.

Why: By registering to participate as an individual or a team, you are directly helping to care for more than 4,500 homeless pets that come into AAWL's shelter each year. The funds raised at this event allow AAWL to save animals at risk of euthanasia, provide medical care to sick or injured animals, provide additional behavior training to make pets more adoptable, and much more.
