Scottsdale Civil War Round Table forms student task force

scottsdale civil warThe Scottsdale Civil War Round Table has just formed a student task force to attract students to the organization as well as promote education about this important time in American history. They now have 17 teachers who have volunteered to spread the word to students. Pictured here is Dr. John Bamberl, President SCWRT with his newest and youngest recruit, Robert Leigh.

Scottsdale Civil War Round Table meets the third Tuesday of every month (except December, June, July & August) at Civic Center Library (Auditorium), 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale at 6:44 p.m. Speakers are comprised of well known Civil War experts from around the country. All are welcome to attend these free events. Scottsdale Civil War Round Table supports battlefield preservation and is now the largest Civil War Round Table in the country with 370 members and counting!  For more info: www.scottsdalecwrt.org.

Public invited to learn about effort to protect resources in Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Residents are invited to learn more about an effort to protect the plants, animals and land of Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve.  A public program focusing on the ecological sustainability of the preserve takes place at 5:30 p.m. May 22 at the Mustang Library, 10101 N. 90th St.

Mexican Wolf/Livestock Coexistence Council extends application date for pay for presence program

PHOENIX – The Mexican Wolf/Livestock Coexistence Council is extending the deadline for livestock producers to submit applications to receive payments for wolf presence under the Mexican Wolf/Livestock Coexistence Plan. The previous May 1 deadline has been extended to June 2 to accommodate additional livestock producers desiring to apply.
