yavapai bookArizona Archaeology Society – Desert Foothills Chapter’s guest speaker for the November 13 meeting is Scottsdale resident Carolina Butler. Carolina Butler was an Orem Dam activist in the 1970s and editor of a recent book titled “Oral History of the Yavapai.” She will engage us with a look at the Yavapai nation.

Carolina Butler was an activist against the Orem Dam project in the 1970s. This project was eventually abandoned. Carolina’s effort to help create the “Oral History of the Yavapai” book makes these oral histories public. Please join us for her presentation on the Yavapai people.

The general public may attend an Arizona Archaeology Society – Desert Foothills Chapter meeting at no charge, except for the holiday party in December. The AAS-DFC meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month September through May. There are refreshments available at 7 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., usually ending prior to 9 p.m.

The meetings are held in the community room at The Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek, AZ (near the Dairy Queen). For more info visit www.azarchsoc.org.
