Who's Who in Social Security
It's perhaps the most comprehensive and current reference directory of its kind
WASHINGTON, DC – "It's perhaps the most comprehensive and current reference directory on America's Social Security System ever compiled," according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, who announced today the publication by the AMAC Foundation of Who's Who in Social Security.
Weber said the book will be available early next month. The project to compile the reference work is part of the association's wide-ranging Social Security Guarantee initiative, he said.
"Funding for what is arguably the most important domestic government program ever implemented is being depleted at an alarming rate. In fact, the Social Security Administration admits that the Disability component of Social Security is in such bad shape that as early as next year benefits could be cut by as much as 20%. The remainder of the Trust Fund is expected to meet the same fate in less than two decades leaving future beneficiaries with some 25% less in their monthly retirement checks. It's a problem that impacts not just older Americans but younger folks who will need Social Security when they retire," the AMAC chief said.
The handbook is meant to be an all-inclusive directory of the key players who are pursuing a solution to the Social Security dilemma we face. "The material contained in this guide will serve to help point you to the people integral to the creation of any form of solution, and will serve to bring you up-to-speed on the many proposed resolutions currently in play on this subject."
It's intended to be an important reference work for lawmakers and government officials as well as those in the media who cover the topic, Weber said. The book will be available to them in print or pdf versions at no charge. Others seeking copies will be encouraged to make a contribution to the AMAC Foundation in order to defray expenses.
"As an action-oriented association, we put the well-being of our constituency at the top of our priority list, and we've been resolute in our efforts to get the attention of lawmakers and the general public while there is still time to develop the most sensible solution to the problem."
