MORE Foundation launches pilot Veterans Transportation Assistance Program
PHOENIX – Veterans now have a way to get to their medical and physical therapy appointments thanks to a new transportation pilot program. The MORE Foundation (Musculoskeletal Orthopedic Research and Education), a non-profit organization that envisions a world full of active people, launched a 90-day pilot program called the Veterans Transportation Assistance Program (V-TAP). The program is designed to cover the transportation cost for military veterans to make their doctors and physical therapy appointments. The initial pilot program covers the cost of approximately 110 veteran transports that will be conducted and coordinated by Quality Transport Services of Arizona (QTS), a leading provider of Assisted Transportation in Arizona.
“We plan to pay for 110 transports getting Veterans to and from their medical appointments during the initial 90-day pilot program,” said Patricia Lewis Finnell, Board Chairwoman of the MORE Foundation who also works for the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. “Our Veterans have given so much to our Country and offering travel vouchers to assist in their return to active lives fit perfectly with our mission.”
“The MORE Foundation’s transportation assistance program will have a significant positive impact on many Veterans across Arizona,” said Andy Beran, owner of Quality Transport Services of Arizona (QTS). “A significant challenge that Veterans face in their medical recovery is transportation related, and this program will help ensure they attend appointments regularly to help them achieve the best possible outcomes.”
Transports through the V-TAP program are specific to Veteran patients who can be transported to any physicians or physical therapy office in the Valley, and are not facility or practice specific.
Veterans seeking transport under the pilot program are encouraged to call QTS directly and mention V-TAP to learn if they may participate in the program and to schedule a transport.
