Recall election set for March 10

CAVE CREEK – Cave Creek Caring Citizens successfully collected more than enough valid signatures to force a recall election of Vice Mayor Adam Trenk and councilmen Mike Durkin, Reg Monachino and Charles Spitzer.
No lawsuits were filed this time contesting the signature petitions and, according to Town Clerk Carrie Dyrek, a recall election is set for March 10, 2015.
Dyrek said none of the recalled council members elected to resign and all four submitted statements to appear in the ballot pamphlet as to why they should not be recalled.
Anyone interested in running for council against a specific councilman will need to submit nomination signature petitions between Dec. 10 and Jan. 9.
Dyrek said she has not yet determined the required number of signatures but it appears to be in the mid 20s.
She said candidate packets will be available later this month.
Recalled councilmen are not required to collect signatures and their names will automatically appear on the ballot.
