Jake Ulmer Earns Eagle Scout Award
CAVE CREEK – After twelve years in scouting, Jake Ulmer of Boy Scout Troop 15, chartered by St Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Cave Creek, reached a lifetime goal by earning the rank of Eagle Scout. The final step in the process was his Eagle project, which involved building 1,200 feet of log fencing to protect critical elk habitat in the Coconino National Forest of northern Arizona.
The fact that a young man is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it special significance, not only in Scouting but also for the young man as he enters higher education, the military or a career. Only about four percent of all Boy Scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Though less than one percent of all boys (Scouts and non-Scouts) attain the rank of Eagle Scout, a high percentage of our national political leaders as well as the CEO’s of large corporations are Eagle Scouts.
Jake is a lifelong resident of Cave Creek and is currently a senior at Cactus Shadows High School. He is the Captain of the Cactus Shadows Mountain Bike Team.
