Volunteers needed to fill Scottsdale board and commission openings
SCOTTSDALE – Scottsdale residents are invited to apply for volunteer positions on eight city boards and commissions. The positions will be filled in November.
The City Council relies on these citizen-based boards and commissions to research issues, reach out to community members and recommend policy direction on a variety of issues important to the city’s future.
Openings exist on the Board of Adjustment, Building Advisory Board of Appeals, Environmental Quality Advisory Board, Industrial Development Authority, Loss Trust Fund Board, Neighborhood Advisory Commission, Personnel Board and the Transportation Commission.
Residents can find information about the functions of these boards and commissions on the city’s website at www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov/boards. An application form is also available on the site.
The application form, which is valid for one year, may also be picked up in the City Clerk’s office in City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
Applications should be submitted by Oct. 20 to give City Council members adequate time for review.
The Council will nominate from the applicant pool on Oct. 21. Those nominated will be interviewed at the Nov. 12 City Council meeting. Following the interviews, the Council will appoint residents to three-year terms.
All board and commission members must comply with the city’s Ethics Code.
