Local student wins award at Hamilton College Convocation

CLINTON, N.Y. – Adrian T. Ophals, son of Thomas and Maryann Ophals of Cave Creek, was awarded The Chauncey S. Truax Prize Scholarship in Greek at Hamilton College's annual Convocation, held on August 27. The Convocation ceremony officially marked the beginning of Hamilton's 203rd academic year.

The Chauncey S. Truax Prize Scholarship in Greek is awarded to the senior who has stood highest in the study of Greek for the first three years with an average grade of no less than 85. Preference is given to candidates who entered Hamilton as first-year students with credit in Greek.

Ophals, a senior majoring in classical languages and mathematics, is a graduate of Foothills Academy.

Hamilton College is a highly selective residential college offering its 1,800 students a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Students are challenged to think, write and speak critically, creatively and analytically, so that upon graduation they may distinguish themselves in both their professions and their communities.
