Scottsdale Fire Department deputy chief wins prestigious fire safety honor
SCOTTSDALE – Deputy Fire Chief Jim Ford has been recognized for his efforts to provide fire protection and emergency services to the Scottsdale community. Ford received the R. Wayne Powell Excellence in Fire Prevention Award, the highest honor given by both the United States Fire Administration and the Prevention Advocacy Resources and Data Exchange, a network of agencies that share fire-prevention resources. “This is truly a testament to Chief Ford’s advocacy of fire prevention and a well-deserved recognition by his peers,” said Glenn A. Gaines, deputy administrator of the U.S. Fire Administration. Ford’s many accomplishments in the field of fire prevention include a report on the history and initial effects of Scottsdale’s automatic fire sprinkler code. His findings continue to receive national and international interest as an effective way to improve proactive fire protection in communities.
