Carefree Town Council hires consultant to produce Town Revitalization Plan
CAREFREE – In efforts to create and implement a Town Revitalization Plan, the Carefree Common Council approved a $130,000 contract with Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. After hearing the proposal given by a company representative, the council unanimously authorized Mayor David Schwan to sign the contract, which includes a “comprehensive study of economic development opportunities for the Carefree Town Center.” This study will take place at the beginning of next year in conjunction with a panel which will help to “engage stake holders and create a plan to implement.” Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. was one of three companies that responded to study implementation of the newly created vision. The project falls under the economic development portion of the annual budget.
Earlier in the meeting, the council unanimously approved the minutes from the May 6, 2014 meeting, putting the paid bills for May 2014 into public record, and the cash receipts and disbursements of the May 2014 paid bills.
The council also approved an Application for a Special Event Permit. The permit grants permission for an open house for SkyRanch at the Carefree Airport. There are anticipated road restrictions from the intersection of Mule Trail and Cave Creek roads to Pima Road from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on February 28, 2015.
Ms. Evelyn Johnson spoke during the call to the public, handing out the 2013-2014 Annual Report for the Cave Creek Museum to the present council members. The museum finished its 43rd season in May and will open again this October. During the off season months the museum volunteers work on restoration projects for museum exhibits.
