Head to the Heard (Museum) in June
Teacher Appreciation Month June 1-30
The Heard Museum thanks K-12 teachers from Arizona schools with a special offer each June. During Teacher
Appreciation Month, the Heard will give teachers with valid school I.D. a 50 percent discount off the adult admission price. This offer is good for the teacher and one guest. The Heard offers free tours for schools, so this offer is a great way to learn more about what the Heard has to offer teachers. The museum’s educational programming meets Arizona State Standards for American Indian culture and history instruction, and is also a great place for kids of all ages to learn more about the rich artistic expressions of Native peoples.
Teachers can spend the day enjoying the Heard’s 11 exhibit galleries, take one of several public tours to gain a deeper perspective into the exhibits, have lunch or a snack at the Courtyard Café or the Coffee Cantina, and browse the selections at the museum’s boutique bookstore Books & More and the award-winning Heard Museum Shop.
BUILDING with Toy Bricks summer workshops
June 2-6, 9-13, 16-20, 23-27
LEGO® bricks, the popular building toy, are the building blocks of intense creativity and design among adults and children alike. Bonanza Educational has partnered with the Heard Museum to provide a one-of-a-kind summer program for children ages 7-13 with four components of fun based on the current exhibit BUILD! Toy Brick Art at the Heard. The one-week workshop will be offered four times in June. Each session is the same. Each will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Seating is limited. Cost for each one-week session is $110 per child; $95 for Heard Museum members. For workshop registration and exhibit information, visit heard.org/build. (LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group, which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this exhibit or workshops.)
