American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter needs volunteer nurses
Volunteer hours credit towards relicensing requirement
PHOENIX – The American Red Cross is recruiting nurse volunteers. “We need nurses – RNs and LPNs – to assist those we serve after a house fire or larger disaster such as a wild fire,” said Laura Crouch, Grand Canyon Chapter chief nurse. The Red Cross will replace medications and medical equipment that is lost to disaster and nurse volunteers make that happen.
“Nurses who volunteer with the Red Cross can practice within the scope of their licensure, said Crouch, “and the hours they spend volunteering count toward the requirement for license renewal. This is especially helpful to nurses who have taken a break from nursing fulltime, or who have retired but want to keep their license current. If they have volunteered the required number of hours with the Red Cross, they are ready for relicensure without a problem.”
