Americans don't trust liberal ideologies
'We reject those who would tell us how to live and how to succeed'
WASHINGTON, DC – Obamacare dominated the news cycles in the last quarter of 2013, mainly due to its botched debut in October. "It is likely to take center stage again in 2014, mainly because the law, itself, is so flawed, unworkable, unpalatable and perhaps even unconstitutional. It is also likely to become the principal focus of the mid-term Congressional election campaigns in November," according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.
"In addition, as it turned out, Obamacare is chief among numerous scandals that have caused the country to lose faith, confidence and trust in the president and his liberal functionaries in Washington. In addition to the White House, the IRS, the Justice Department, the State Department and the Department of Health and Human Services all came under fire in 2013 from the left and from the right and from our allies and from our enemies abroad," Weber explained.
He said that we've been harmed by what he calls the "progressive revisionists" who have sought to set a new agenda for the U.S. – "an agenda that diminishes our traditional values, beliefs and ethics."
But Weber believes that the failures of the Obama Administration over the past five years have been a wake-up call among his traditional supporters. He pointed to recent polls that show the president is losing the support of younger voters, women and Latinos among other constituents he used to count on.
"One Harvard survey even showed that nearly half of voters between the ages of 18 and 29 would recall President Obama, if it were possible."
Weber predicted that eventually even mainstream moderates and conservatives among those who call themselves Democrats will reject the president's liberal elitist notions of government.
"Americans fought for their independence and are not going to give up their Constitutional rights so easily, however they identify themselves politically. We are at heart a nation of conservatives who inherently desire to take charge of their own lives, who value their heritage and who reject those who would tell us how to live and how to succeed."
