Desert Harvest planned for Desert Awareness Park!
A Desert Harvest Workshop on desert edibles and is being offered by the Desert Awareness Committee of the Foothills Community Foundation on Saturday, May 11 beginning at 8am at Desert Awareness Park, corner of Cave Creek and Vermeersch Rds., Cave Creek.
This event is part of the edible and medicinal desert series offered by the Desert Awareness organization which provides programs for all CCUSD fourth grades, stewardship for Desert Awareness Park and community wide programs on sustainable desert living.
The harvest involves techniques for gathering and preparing wolfberry fruits (right), green Mesquite beans, Mormon tea (above) and green Palo Verde beans (below). Participants will get to taste wolfberry preparations, fresh Mesquite and Palo Verde beans and Mormon Tea.
Gather at the Desert Heritage Center, across the wash from the first parking lot. There is handicapped parking available on the far side of the wash.
