A message from Rural/Metro Fire Chief John Kraetz
CAVE CREEK – Before we know it, wildfire season will be upon us. All the rain (and snow!) we have experienced this winter will promote lush growth of all the desert weeds and grasses that fuel wildfires.
The small vegetation in our desert environment is what allows relatively small fires to grow to uncontrollable infernos.
The fire department is sending out this reminder to all homeowners to take some time and remove the grasses and weeds from your yard before the hot summer arrives. This will allow us to protect your homes during a fire, and helps us keep fires contained to a small area.
