Hearts and Hands Gala on March 3 to support Foothills Community Foundation (FCF)
SCOTTSDALE – The second annual fundraiser for the Foothills Community Foundation (FCF) will be held on Sunday, March 3 at the FCF-Holland Community Center, 34250 N. 60th Street, Scottsdale, 4:30-8:30 p.m. It includes a reception, formal dinner, live auction, raffles and entertainment. "There will be magic in the air to make this a memorable and festive evening to support needed services for the community and the many important and popular FCF programs" said Diane Vaszily, Chair of the Hearts and Hands Gala Committee and an FCF board member. There will be trips, jewelry, exclusive golf packages and other exciting items as part of the live auction.
FCF serves all residents in the communities of North Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, North Phoenix. In two of the past three years, FCF-Desert Foothills Theater has won numerous ariZoni Awards and provided outstanding entertainment for over 10,000 viewers each year. In 2012, FCF-Partners In Education awarded over $28,000 in scholarships so needy K-6 students could attend summer and pre/after school programs and $20,000 for CCUSD Teacher Vision grants. FCF-Desert Awareness Committee shares a desert experience program with over 500 fourth graders in the foothills area each year. FCF-Caring Communities provides programs to support families at risk and coordinates social services with local churches and instituted Second Step a bullying prevention program which reaches 4,000 students in Cave Creek Unified School District schools. FCF and the Foothills Food Bank provided 300 families with assistance this past season through the annual Holiday Project. The FCF-Holland Community Center provides multi-age dining and meeting facilities for bridge clubs, community sings, weekly bingo, Key Club, computer classes, education lectures from Scottsdale Healthcare as well as a place for other non-profits to hold events. The Hearts and Hands Gala will enable FCF to continue to support these programs and to serve as a connecting point for the Desert Foothills.
