Grand Opening – Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace
CAREFREE – December 1, between 9 a.m. and noon, marks the official Grand Opening of the Kiwanis of Carefree Marketplace. The Marketplace is full of gently used and new items: apparel, accessories, jewelry, home furnishings, office items, artwork, and collectibles.
“This is all the good stuff, what the Flea Market committee has deemed too precious or easily damaged to store in our warehouse for months prior to our Flea Market,” said Toby Payne, Kiwanis Club of Carefree president. The Kiwanis Club of Carefree Flea Market is held seven times a year.
Merchandise is so plentiful, there was a "soft opening" of the Marketplace in October. A pre-Grand Opening invitation went out to the devotees of the Carefree Kiwanis Flea Market. These “Super Fleas” signed up for e-mail notices of sales events.
“We wanted to make sure we wouldn’t be overwhelmed the day of the Grand Opening!” exclaimed Phylliss Henry, Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace committee member. “It was a good way to practice our cashiering skills. We want people to be enjoying themselves shopping, not standing in lines.”
When shoppers check out, the cashiers are happy to say, "We'll see you next week, right? We'll have all sorts of new merchandise!" And, they mean it.
The Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace will be open every Saturday, from 9 a.m. – noon; and, Wednesdays, from 1:30 – 4 p.m.
The Flea Market will also be open on December 1, 8 a.m. – noon. Subsequent Flea Market dates are: January 26, March 16, and May 4.
Cash, credit cards and checks (with I.D.) will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the community programs of Kiwanis Club of Carefree, a 501.c3 organization.
“Out with the old, in with the new…” if you are making room in your closet for what you find at the Marketplace, please donate your good clothing, accessories and jewelry to the Marketplace. Bring it with you and share the ‘Marketplace love!’
The Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace and Flea Market are located at 7171 Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek (at approximately Cave Creek Road and Tom Darlington). Look for the large Kiwanis Club of Carefree Marketplace signs.
