Phoenix Ballet
PHOENIX, AZ. (August) - Ballet Arizona will hold open auditions for children’s roles in The Nutcracker on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 3645 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix. The audition is open to all ballet student levels, boys and girls, ages 9 – 16. Selected dancers will appear as Clara, Fritz, Nutcracker Prince, Party Girls and Boys, Soldiers, Angels, and Mother Ginger’s Bon-Bons. The dancers will perform in The Nutcracker December 10-27, 2010 at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix.
Ballet Arizona is excited to involve children from the greater Phoenix area and make The Nutcracker more accessible to the community. The Nutcracker provides the chance for local children to share the stage with Ballet Arizona's professional dancers in Arizona’s greatest holiday tradition – making lifetime memories.
Several hundred children are expected in attendance, with up to 150 selected to perform in three separate casts during the 20 show schedule during the month of December at Symphony Hall. All auditioning children must be able to commit to The Nutcracker’s rehearsal and performance schedule.

Registration: Begins one (1) hour prior to scheduled audition time. Registration fee is $10 for School of Ballet Arizona (SBAZ)/ Arizona School for the Arts (ASA) Students. $15 for non-SBAZ and NON-ASA students.
Audition times:
Boys (ages 9-18) 9:30am-10:00am
SBAZ/ ASA girls (ages 9-12) 10:00am-10:30am
Open audition girls (ages 9-12) 10:30am-11:00 am
SBAZ/ ASA girls (ages 13-18) 11:00am-11:30am
Open audition girls (ages 13-18) 11:30am-12:00pm
**All auditioning children should be available to stay additional time on the day of the auditions. **
Casting: Height is restricted to 5’8” or under. Students must be age 9 (by Dec. 1) to 18 with the appropriate technique, experience and meet the height requirements are able to audition. Casting is at the sole discretion of Ballet Arizona artistic staff.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals begin Saturday Sept 15 and run every Saturday (excluding Nov3 & 24) till the performances in December. Rehearsals run from 9 am – 3 pm with blocks of time scheduled for each role specifically.
