New form of Theater and sanctioned Centennial Project
In the Devil’s Frying Pan, premieres Feb. 2 – 19 in Cave Creek
CAVE CREEK – In honor of Arizona’s Centennial celebration, Desert Foothills Theater (DFT), a program of the Foothills Community Foundation, is presenting a new form of theater through an original play, In the Devil’s Frying Pan, which tells the story of the founding of Arizona through first-person accounts of life in the Territory prior to 1912. This theatrical event, which has been recognized by the Arizona Centennial Commission as an Official Centennial Event and a Centennial Legacy Project, premieres Thurs., Feb. 2 through Sun., Feb. 19 at Stagecoach Village, 7100 E. Cave Creek Rd., in Cave Creek. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets range from $15 to $20 for children under 18, and from $22 to $30 for adults.

Acting/Auditioning for Film, Gr. 3-12
Have you ever wondered what it is like working on film? Are you ready to try your hand at on-camera work? Have you seen audition notices for film work but been too nervous to go because you did not know what to expect? Then this is the class for you. Instructor Anna Paris will cover everything from your resume and headshot to what a film or stage audition will be like. You will work on camera to explore the differences between stage and film acting and learn to become comfortable acting for the camera. Agent Gail McCauley will attend on January 21 to talk about her agency, what an agent is looking for and the film business in the Phoenix area.

Gr. 7-12, Makeup for Theater
Makeup artist Jessica Frieling introduces actors to the art of stage makeup. In Makeup for Theatre 1 students learn the tools and tricks of the stage. They learn to build their own personal makeup kit, to apply basic stage makeup, to apply some simple character makeup styles, important makeup safety and hygiene and other skills. Students who complete this class will be able to confidently apply their own basic stage makeup and recreate makeup designs on their own faces from looking at sample paper drawings. This class is imperative to anyone with a serious interest in theater. Makeup is important in character development and an actor who understands and can competently apply their own stage makeup has that much more control over their character development.

Intro to Theater for grades 3-6, this fabulous class changes from semester to semester with each one taking on a new short production while developing acting skills and learning theater vocabulary, vocal technique and more. Taught at Black Mountain Elementary School and Horseshoe Trails Elementary School by Anna Paris. Taught at DFT COPA at FCF by Jessica Frieling.
Acting UP! for grades K-2: Teacher Paris Rhoad takes youngsters into the world of theater through story devising creative movement and much more! This is a great place to start. Classes are Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. at DFT COPA at FCF. This class only needs 4 more students!
