AGF Spring hunt draw results now available
PHOENIX – Get ready to put some spring into your step – the 2012 spring draw for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear has been completed and results are now available by clicking on the link at www.azgfd.gov/draw.
Draw results are also available by telephone by calling the main Game and Fish Department telephone number at (602) 942-3000 and selecting “option two.”
There were more than 31,900 applicants for this year’s spring draw.
The department’s reimplementation of the online application service during the last week of the spring draw cycle was very successful. About 37 percent (11,706) of the applicants used the online application service. More than 95 percent of those surveyed indicated they were either “extremely satisfied” or “satisfied” with the service, with the other five percent indicating they were “somewhat satisfied.” About 95 percent said the online service was easy to use.
If you didn’t get drawn or didn’t even submit an application for the spring draw, don’t despair – there are 10,997 leftover hunt tags remaining for javelina, 380 for turkey, and 54 for bear.
There are two primary methods to obtain a leftover hunt tag.
First, first-come applications will be accepted by U.S. mail (U.S. Postal Service) after 8 a.m. (MST) on Nov. 28.
Secondly, starting on Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. (MST), hunters can also obtain any remaining leftover hunt tags in person at any of the seven Arizona Game and Fish Department offices. A list of office locations is available at www.azgfd.gov/offices.
For a detailed listing of leftover permits, which includes hunt number, number of permits available and unit number, visit www.azgfd.gov/draw and click on the “View list of leftover permits for 2012 spring hunts” link.

Desert Foothills Land Trust News
The Preserve at the Cave Hike, 9 a.m. Saturday, December 3
Hikers will visit this unique feature along Cave Creek - source of the name of the creek and town. The cave has supported human inhabitants for centuries, as evidenced by both pictographs and petroglyphs. We will also explore the important riparian habitat along Cave Creek. This property is privately owned and permanently protected by a conservation easement held by the Land Trust. It is not open to the public. This is an easy hike, but be prepared for wet shoes if we have had recent rains! (THIS HIKE IS FULL. You may still RSVP to be added to the wait list.)
Space is limited and registration is required for guided hikes. Please e-mail us at [email protected] or call 480-488-6131 at least one day before the hike to let us know how many people will be attending with your group. This allows us to share meeting location, directions, special instructions or cancellations with you. Additional hikes will be scheduled for late winter and spring. Keep an eye on our website at www.dflt.org/hikes.php for the most recent hike schedule!
