‘Other’ Falcons eliminate our ‘Birds in Soccer Semis
Lauren Lazo named Desert Sky Player of the Year; Jeff Vittorio honored as Region Coach of the Year
CSHS – Darn those (Tucson) Catalina Foothills “other” Falcons! First, they eliminate our Gals and Guys from the Soccer State Tournament; then they roll on to capture both State Championships, Saturday, Feb. 12, their Girls edging (Tucson) Sabino, 1-0; their Guys decisively beating #1 Glendale, 5-2. Congratulations, Foothills. You Soccer-Rule!
Still, “our” Soccer Falcons – Girls and Boys – had solid seasons to be proud. Head Coach Jeff Vittorio’s Ladies won the “last” Desert Sky Region Championship; Head Coach Tony Vos’s Guys were D-Sky runner-up to Saguaro. Both squads making the State Semis was a first for CSHS soccer.
