Judge grants preliminary injunction citing ‘Law 101’

Defendants ordered to desist and refrain from interfering with recall efforts
CAREFREE – After obtaining emergency relief in the form of a temporary restraining order in July, Ryan Ducharme returned to Maricopa County Superior Court on Monday for a hearing on his motion for a preliminary injunction to prevent Ray Klemp, who owns the building which houses town hall and the post office in Carefree, from interfering with Ducharme’s collection of recall petition signatures outside the building.

Cave Creek water invoicing takes center stage

CAVE CREEK – Last week a frustrated Joe Fendler met with Utilities Manager Jessica Marlow and Town Manager Usama Abujbarah to discuss his water bills.

Carefree fire insurance (ISO) rating lowered

Lower rates anticipated for some homeowners
CAREFREE – The town council recently received good news about fire protection.

Town officials were notified the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) had lowered Carefree's ISO rating from a 6 to a 3, which should lead to lower rates for many homeowners. The change generally affects homes within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant and within five miles of the Carefree Fire Station.

PHOENIX – Last week, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (MCAO) received a copy of a letter dated March 18 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sent to Maricopa County Board of Supervisors (MCBOS) Andrew Kunasek, as chair, informing him the DOJ was “initiating an investigation of a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of national origin (Hispanic) by MCBOS.
