Los Portales tenants, its dozens of successful businesses, and many thousands of customers have been satisfied for over five decades. None of the tenants are encumbered by leases, they stay by choice. Nothing is being eroded by Los Portales, customers return year after year. Those 50 years are proof your assumptions are incorrect. Historic Spanish Village and Los Portales remain major parts of Carefree’s magnetism. No one visits Carefree for golden arches, a budget hotel or a suffering garden, all products of poor government planning.
Carefree commercial has survived, even thrived despite government “help” and confiscation of parking.
If you really have the interest of our Town ( I helped save it by incorporation 40+ years ago) or our merchants at heart you would pose your questions to Los Portales building management one on one first, not use your Councilmember position in the press to attract votes for a political campaign.
For the record I have never met you during your time in Carefree nor have you ever shown any real interest in the 50+ year successful history of this historic property on Carefree’s busiest corner. I have very unique 40+ year permanent resident and 40+ year multiple commercial property owner experiences and perspectives.
If you care about the real Carefree truth I will offer to share that 40+ years experience, one on one only. It may change your mind about issues that should really concern you as an elected official.
