Let’ get real. There has been one serious structure fire in Carefree in the last 10 years. Nearly all 911 calls in Carefree are for emergency medical aid. We now have twice the equipment and personnel we had a year ago. Response times is Carefree are under 4 minutes and the fire trucks have medical personnel on board.
The proposed auto aid area is shaped like a dog with Carefree being at the tail of the dog. It is far, far more likely that our fire and medical personnel will be down in Phoenix, Scottsdale etc. (since they have far greater emergency service needs) than the other way around. If you or your loved one needs emergency medical assistance, do you want to wait for a response from Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert or Chandler or Buckeye because our equipment is in another town?
Voting for the tax increase to buy into auto aid (25 year commitment) will make Will make the Town of Carefree less safe not more safe.
