Five fire stations in and within minutes of Carefree, serving our community’s emergency needs, are better than one station. As part of Automatic Aid, we will not only be served by our Carefree Fire Station, but have the added benefit of immediate dispatch from the Cave Creek Daisy Mountain, Phoenix 72, and Scottsdale 615 or 616, ALL of which may be the nearest available emergency resources to many parts of our town. With Automatic Aid the NEAREST available appropriate emergency resources will be sent EVERY time regardless of jurisdiction!
Our Carefree Station has excellent response times for those near the station, but average response times have risen 35% to over 4 minutes and 20 seconds since the Cave Creek conversion to Automatic Aid. Average doesn’t cut it for the hundreds of Carefree households that are over 4 miles away from the Carefree Station and less than 2 miles from Phoenix 72 or Cave Creek. Minutes, not seconds have been added to our emergency response times without the automatic dispatch from closer stations in other jurisdictions.
For those that say our public safety has not changed, they are not living the reality of those of us furthest from the Carefree Station and closer to stations in other jurisdictions.
Please vote YES for the property tax that will allow Carefree to join Automatic Aid in a fiscally sustainable manner, so ALL Carefree residents can have the best possible emergency services and response times.
