Venomous snake handling

Joanna Sloan of Desert Foothills wrangles a rattler.

People from all over the valley attended a class on venomous snake handling at the Phoenix Herpetological Society on Tuesday April 24. The class educates on how to identify venomous versus non-venomous snakes, looks at myths and facts regarding snakes and other reptiles, and for those who want it, provides hands on experience in the proper handling of snakes. Participants first practice with a non-venomous snake before being given the opportunity to wrangle a rattler.
