Felon should be disarmed

Outfitter Larry Altimus was rightfully convicted for the felony of poaching a bighorn ram in Utah, in violation of federal and Utah statutes. He may not hunt anywhere in the USA for 17 years, and he has been assessed a $30,000 fine. What the report does not state is the what is missing: Mr. Altimus, as a felon, may not possess firearms or ammunition.

As a Life NRA member, instructor, recruiter and hunter education instructor and survivor of Nazi-occupied France and Peron-ruled Argentina, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment…but as a former volunteer patrol officer in the north part of Maricopa County, I expect full enforcement of existing laws. AZDPS, following Arizona Revised Statutes, Chapter 13: 3112 should pay a visit to Mr. Altimus’s Arizona residence and confiscate hos firearms and ammunition (and perhaps donate these to AZGFD for auction during fundraising events).

We have laws to control criminals:  DO IT!
