Self-Defense Victory in Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. Last month, Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) launched the ‘Your Life Your Right’ national activism campaign to tackle the critical issue of self-defense and violent crimes on college campuses. Unbeknownst to most, several universities currently institute policies that put students at risk with outright bans prohibiting even non-lethal weapons such as tasers and mace.

We are pleased to hear that the Ohio state legislature has implemented reforms to allow for self-defense on college campuses through conceal carry. According to Fox News, “Currently, 23 states allow their college and universities to decide whether to allow concealed weapons on campus.”

The facts show that policies aimed at restricting the ownership and use of self-defense weapons only makes it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to gain access to what they need to defend themselves, creating more potential victims on campuses across the country.

“YAL believes the Your Life Your Right campaign could potentially save lives by combating restrictions that make it difficult for students to defend themselves. We want to put an end to the laws and policies that are creating victims of violent crime and we commend the Ohio state legislature for protecting college students by upholding our Constitutional rights,” said Cliff Maloney Jr., Executive Director of YAL.
