Coldplay has played into our hearts once again.

PHOENIX – For the first time since 2008, Coldplay made their return to Arizona on Tuesday, August 23. Gila River Arena was one of the last stops on the United States leg of their latest tour, “A Head Full of Dreams.”

The two opening acts were Bishop Briggs, an indie style pop singer, and Alessia Cara (who will be returning for her own concert here in October), the famous pop star known most commonly by her song “Here” that has been relentlessly played on the radio. The band played some of their older songs including; “Paradise”, “Yellow”, “The Scientist”, and “Viva La Vida”, as well as many new ones from their current album such as “Adventure of a Lifetime” and “Hymn for the Weekend.”

All the fans were given “xylobands” (wristbands) that lit up and changed according to the song being played. The show was full of many vibrant effects such as dancing neon lights, rainbow colored confetti and even the occasional spouts of fire.

The arena was full of excitement and bright colors that lasted well into the night. Even when the concert ended, people were still joyful outside of the arena. We can only hope they return again soon, as Chris Martin himself said, “If you want us to come back, we can!” And we mostly certainly do want them to!
