Murder victim identified and suspect arrested

lundsfordCAVE CREEK – Mary Elizabeth Hermann, 29, was identified as the woman found murdered on July 8 when Rural/Metro firefighters responded to a Cave Creek house fire at corner of 56th Street and Seven Palms Drive.
Hermann’s body was discovered in an unburned part of the house with her throat slit to near decapitation and multiple stab wounds, later determined by the medical examiner to be the cause of death.

Film/Arts Festival to culminate in Coyote Awards Ceremony

CAVE CREEK – The culmination of a year’s worth of art, photography and literature for the Cave Creek Film and Arts Festival will take place at Harold’s on Saturday.

Keeping watch

These photos were taken during the last two weeks of June at the Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church parking lot. Since then there have been two other pickups, which will be shown in future issues.

Harris Hawks electrocuted on Arroyo Road power line

hawkCAVE CREEK – Twenty-one year resident Scott Boal became concerned last week when he saw two Harris Hawks injured while sitting on a booster box, which was recently installed on a power line on Arroyo Road.

County superintendent appoints Virgil Cain to fill vacancy
CCUSD – Although it was not announced until the next day, Cave Creek Unified School District President Stephanie Reese and board member Gladys Styles Johnston had already prepared their own resignations, dated July 8, by the time they voted to release Superintendent Tacy Ashby from her contract during Tuesday’s governing board meeting.
