Praise continues to be heaped upon Heritage at Carefree

CAREFREE – Marian Kendrick has lived in Arizona since 1972, yet she’s a fairly new resident to the Heritage at Carefree Retirement Living. She moved in in April with her husband, Bob, after he had taken ill. Bob passed in July, and while Marian misses Bob, whom she married in 1954, she said you just can’t help making friends at the Heritage.

“The Heritage staff, the people, they are wonderful! The residents are from all over the US and it’s really an interesting group of people,” she explained.

There are various levels of care at the Heritage – independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and hospice care – so residents do bring their own cars. Marian does and often takes fellow residents to Scottsdale to walk the trails. She added that for those who don’t drive, “There’s always Uber!” Of course, the Heritage has a multi-passenger Sprinter that whisks them off on overnight trips, to movies, for shopping and lunch.

Marian, a mother herself, also noted that it seems many of the residents have children, and the atmosphere is family friendly. “And the staff, they are funny and like to tease and laugh! Everyone is well trained. There was an incident where my husband, who was six feet, had to be picked up. The nurse [smaller in stature] was able to do so without any problems. I was impressed.”

Three meals are served and residents sit with the same group daily, where friendships are further forged. “I sit with such a nice group of ladies,” Marian shared. “It’s very good food, variety is good, portions are correct. Natalie [Byrne, the marketing director] takes care of the smallest need. I’m really happy here.”
