North East Valley Artists League’s (NEVAL) silent auction

Belted is an acrylic painting on wood panel. Created by artist Christina Clark, Belted is a celebration of survivors’ courage in turning brutality into beauty in this abstract representation of rebirth using a paint soaked belt thrashed against wood panel. Domestic violence inextricably links violence and sex. The deep connections between these two spheres comes full circle in the phallic shapes created by violent marks in Belted. See this and other North East Valley Artists League’s (NEVAL) member art works during a silent auction and gallery show. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and as part of the Paint Phoenix Purple Initiative the NEVAL is supporting the 6th Annual Silent Auction and Gallery Show. The auction begins Friday, October 11th, and ends Thursday, October 17th, at 5:00 p.m. Guests are invited to visit the gallery show from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. opening day for entertainment, refreshments, a guest speaker, and demonstrations. Artists from the local art league have created and donated original works of art. All auction proceeds benefit the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.
