North Valley Symphony Orchestra (NVSO) is proud to announce and welcome Mr. Robert Reyes as the new director for North Valley Symphonettes (NVS). Mr. Reyes will be responsible for conducting weekly rehearsals, as well as several concerts this season for NVSO’s youngest musicians. He will begin this new position on August 19th, 2019, the first rehearsal for all NVSO youth ensembles.

Mr. Reyes joins NVSO’s youth staff with 14 years of experience in teaching every level of orchestra, from elementary to high school.  He currently serves as Orchestra Director at Mohave Middle School in Scottsdale Unified School District.

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, he received his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Arizona in 2005 and is currently pursuing a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Northern Arizona University.

In 2015 and 2017 Mr. Reyes served as a guest clinician for Southern Arizona Honors Orchestra (SAHO), and has conducted student orchestras in numerous competitions such as the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) and Disneyland’s Music in the Parks, earning scores of superior, superior with distinction, and best in show.

Mr.Reyes is an active advocate for music education and fine arts in the community and has been a member of several professional organizations including Arizona Music Education Association (AMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and American String Teachers Association (ASTA).
