MRT Agents Rescue Mexican Man with Gunshot Wound

TUCSON Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Mobile Response Team (MRT) responded to a 911 call from a 41-year-old Mexican man who had been shot before crossing the border into the United States.

The man told a 911 operator that he fled from a group of assailants south of the border after being shot in the arm.

After a short search, MRT agents located the subject based on his general description of the area from where he was calling. Border Patrol agents trained as Emergency Medical Technicians arrived by helicopter and stabilized the man for transport to an awaiting air ambulance. He was then flown to a Tucson hospital for advanced medical care.

The man will be processed for immigration violations in accordance to Tucson Sector guidelines.
