Sky Kids team is gearing up for its next event at the Scottsdale Airport this Saturday

Sky Kids AZ

Sky Kids offers children with special needs an opportunity to fly in a general aviation aircraft with an expert pilot. Accompanied by a parent or friend, the child experiences the wonders and enjoyment of flight and gains confidence and self esteem by being “in command” of the aircraft. The next event takes place at Ross Aviation starting at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 5.

In addition to the flight, the day includes face painters, police, fire and aircraft displays and a free BBQ lunch for participants, families and volunteers. For information about registering for the upcoming event, volunteering, donating, or to view pictures of past events, please visit SkyKidsaz.org.

Volunteers still needed

This experience is delivered with the help of volunteers, donors, sponsors and supporters who enjoy seeing the smiles of the new “co-pilots” as they return from the approximately 20-minute flight. If you are a pilot with access to a small plane, your help is needed to expand the number of children served. Non-pilot volunteers are also needed to escort children and their families to and from the planes, prepare and serve food, assist with check-in, or help entertain and keep the kids happy and safe.
