I am pretty sure the GOB mob crowd will try its best to get their current Mayor David "property tax" Schwan reelected in order to prevent a Wikileak-type disclosure of town hall secrets next year, assuming there is anything left after critical paper gets dumped through a shredder.
The Town of Carefree website includes, "At the end of this period, the official document (General Plan) will be adopted by the Planning & Zoning Commission, Town Council, and finally by Carefree voters in an election." The Shadow Government will tell sheep-like voters to salute and then how to vote. It's already a done deal.
It comes as no surprise that no one wants to run for the Carefree Council. With vicious, irresponsible people like Lyn Hitchon allowed free access to Town Hall, sincere, qualified people are turned off. And, we are left with exactly what we have ... incompetency.
Want to have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year. As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world. Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it. Here's the address, just don't be rude or crude: ACLU, 125 Broad Street, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if they were mail containing contributions. So spend 44 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". It's always been called a CHRISTMAS TREE! And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!!
I live in Cave Creek and if our mayor and councilmen like their jobs I suggest they forget about a property tax. Yes, we need fire protection and I pay Rural/Metro’s outrageous subscription price, but only because I have a mortgage and have to. It would be constructive to go out on bid with established conditions of the bidders ways and means to get at least 95 percent subscriptions, with a price that is half or less we are being charged by Rural/Metro and hopefully union free.
I read complaints about our winter visitors and wince. As a business owner I view them as blood in our arteries of profits and success. It is a delight to see strolling couples and watching as they take pictures of each other, which advertises Cave Creek to their friends and families. If you bothered to chat with them you would find their dream is to live here and if they are treated with respect they will be back next year. Please?
I am a teacher at CCUSD and I remain anonymous since retaliation is a weapon used by my administration. I view Sonoran News’ watchdog role as a noble use of media and very rare in this country. I am aware of many hidden things that go on here and have quietly sent such information to Don and Linda and I will continue to do so. My desire is to run for the school board and if my husband gets his well-deserved promotion I will. I can’t wait to hold (Debbi) Burdick’s feet to the fire.
For those dreamers who think Cave Creek and Carefree should be more cooperative with each other don’t realize how different they are and never will the twain meet. I lived in Carefree in the early 90s, left in 1999 and returned to live in Cave Creek in 2006. I found Carefree’s town government stifling and the GOB control of government absolutely true. I feel sorry for citizens and would love to see them rebel but I don’t think they will. In contrast, Cave Creek’s politics are both respectful but aggressive and I have noticed no shadow government here.
Gov. Mike Huckabee said ..."If we want to keep our Nation's secrets 'SECRET'... store them where President Obama stores his college transcripts and birth certificate."
I read your last week’s editorial with interest. I am one of those LD 7 people who despise (Nancy) Barto and everything she stands for. I could write a book about her deceptions and I am sure we haven’t seen the last of her damaging behavior. By the way I am a 100 percent conservative and she is 100 percent RINO at best. Keep up the reporting of legislators who sneak in toxic legislation, like Barto has done.
The Your View writer who suggested TSA employees would come to Carefree and pat down council applicants was hilarious. With that creative thought I hope the writer expands the thought and sends it in to Sonoran News for insertion in their April Fool edition.
After listening to comments by our esteemed Senator McCain on the "don't ask/don't tell" survey, I have come to the sad conclusion that the man is senile. I had always respected and supported him in the past, but the past few years have left me realizing that Senator McCain has overstayed in Washington. Time to come home sir, and enjoy that rocking chair.
