What a regular season home opener!

cshs basketballAfter stinking up the Paradise Valley Gym in their 0-3 Thanksgiving Tournament appearances, the Falcons answered new Head Basketball Coach Tyler Dummett’s challenge to “dig deep within yourselves” by stunning #3-ranked Peoria, 78-65, Tuesday evening, Nov. 30, completing a Freshman (64-48), JV (45-41) and Varsity sweep of the visiting Panthers.

Co-Captain Casey Perrin’s 24 points (he nailed ten consecutive free throws in the game’s final 3:22) led the Falcons’ wire-to-wire win before an amped-up home crowd.  Co-Captain Jack Bennett had three momentum blocks down the homestretch. Three other Falcons scored in double figures: junior Eric Johnson (14), senior Max Gersh and sophomore C.J. Davis, each with 12.  Coach Dummett and Assistant Coaches Jamaal Scott and Kyle Diemer [CSHS ’06] opted out of the postgame celebratory photo.

The ‘Birds travel to Shadow Mountain, Friday, Dec. 3, before returning to host Apache Junction, Tuesday, Dec. 7, both tip-offs at 7 p.m. Congratulations to Coach Dummett on his first victory as CSHS head coach – and to his Falcons for “digging deep.” Keep it up, guys!

There’s exciting at-home basketball ahead, fans. “A.J.” is tough. Be there!
