‘Step right up’ for 2010 Walk to Cure Diabetes Oct. 30

Desert Southwest Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) gets ready for the 11th Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, presented by GoDaddy.com®, on Saturday, Oct. 30. JDRF’s Phoenix Walk to Cure Diabetes stands as the largest family-friendly walk in the Valley and will feature a circus-theme for 2010. JDRF will welcome more than 20,000 participants in Tempe and Glendale, last year raising $1.2 million. This year’s walks are sponsored in part by Bashas’ Family of Stores, Fox 10 and CBS Radio.

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The funds raised at the walk go directly to diabetes research – the more money raised, the more research is funded and the closer we come to finding a cure. Although a minimum of $100 raised for each walker is encouraged, all donations are appreciated.
The 5K walk will be held at Tempe Town Lake, with a shorter, 1.5 mile walk beginning at 9:15 a.m. available for kids and people with disabilities. The Glendale walk will be held at the same times offering a slightly shorter 3.6 mile walk. Both walks will start with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the walk at 9 a.m., with a host of post-walk activities, food and live entertainment lasting until 2 p.m.
