QUEEN CREEK - The final totals tell the story of Queen Creek’s dominant balance at Desert Sky Regionals. Boys: QC, 226 - Apache Junction, 111 - CSHS, 100; Girls: QC 224 – CSHS 116 - Saguaro, 92. A solid performance by Head Coach Geoff Johnson’s Track Falcons, highlighted by the setting of four new CSHS records: Girls 4x100 relay, 50.01 (front, l-r) Casey Paul (FR), Merrit Thompson (SR), Paige Kratzke (SR), Jenny Gormley (SO); Boys: 4x100 relay, 43.44 (middle, l-r) Joree Schneider (JR), Ryan Toomey (SR), Tommy Murphy (SR), Geoff Byers (SR); (rear) Matt Schneider (SR) in both the long jump (21’10”) and triple jump (42’5.75”). Byers won the 100m dash and placed 2nd in the 200m. Earlier in the season, Maya Erler (SO) set a new Girls pole vault mark of 10’. An injury will keep her from competing at State. Next issue will have a complete roster of all 25 State qualifiers by name, class and event(s). Congratulations, record-setters! And good luck to all qualifiers at May 14-15 State, Mesa Community College.
