CAREFREE – Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a robbery call at the National Bank of Arizona located at 7202 E. Carefree Drive at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, subsequently turning the case over to the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.
According to the FBI, the armed robbery was carried out by a lone male, described as between the ages of 20 and 40, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
The suspect, who got away with an undisclosed amount of money, was wearing dark clothing, gloves and had his head covered.
The FBI Evidence Response Team was still processing the scene late Tuesday afternoon and was trying to determine if the robbery was connected to other robberies.
Law enforcement officials didn’t know if the robber had accomplices outside the bank waiting in a getaway vehicle or how the robber fled the scene.
Carefree Station was also broken into a few days earlier with the robbers getting away with cash and electronic equipment.
