FAR moving to Scottsdale
December 16, 2009
CAVE CREEK – Dawn Kavanaugh, Executive Director of Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR), is overjoyed to announce the purchase of a building for the rescue. Since the non-profit moved out of its Cave Creek building in September 2008, a dedicated group of volunteers and foster families have taken in 250 dogs and cats, caring for them at their homes.
The goal to buy a building was met by fundraising, community and foundation support. Although part of the property at 23030 N. Pima Road will be leased to enable FAR to manage the financial maintenance of the building, they will retain 4,000 square feet for the shelter.
Future fundraising opportunities will enable FAR to make the structural and design changes necessary to turn an office facility into an environment suited to animals, including space for veterinary care and adoption friendly areas. It is anticipated the rescue will be able to open the facility in the Spring of 2010. Donations are being accepted for the Raise the Woof fund that will enable the rescue to complete all necessary renovations.
