Veterans deserve better
"Non-believers should be beheaded and hot oil poured down their throats." "I'm going to do good work for God."
– Major Nidal Malik Hasan.
Today is Veterans Day, and our veterans are getting the shaft. I was reminded of this in the November 2009 newsletter from Project "We Remember." (See www. ProjectWeRemember.org.) Veteran Vernon Bagley, executive director of this project and of Military Families Foundation, shares with us that approximately 66 percent of all U.S. veterans are not eligible for any VA benefits because they were not in a combat zone, not wounded, nor did they become ill on active duty. That's just wrong.
Recently Bagley was told during a meeting at the VA Hospital in Houston that veterans who served this nation and have been diagnosed with cancer are forgoing treatment because they live more than 100 miles from the hospital, and beds provided for families of veterans by a program are always full. The cost of a motel room for their loved ones to stay in gets too expensive when the treatments stretch into months.
Bagley is asking for donations of cash, furniture or your time to provide and maintain units for these men and women. He is expanding his program from the states of Arizona and Texas into Wisconsin and Arkansas next year. Money raised in one state will stay in that state.
Thank God for the outrage of Americans who loudly complained when the Obama administration was ready to charge veterans more for prescriptions and other sundries in order to raise money for their socialized medicine program. Of all the thousands of welfare programs that exist for not only the unfortunate people who are trying to help themselves but also the myriads who are locked into generational government dependency through their own laziness and lifestyles, one would think that those who served our country honorably should never want for any necessity again.
Think of all the people who were put into homes with only their welfare payments as "wages" who would obviously never be able to meet the mortgage payments – not to mention illegal aliens who got the bank loans. Far better that our leaders should give a house to every combat veteran and interest-free loans to the rest of our military. After all, we are giving furnished beachfront homes to those poor Guantanamo Bay detainees.
Now we have the incident at Fort Hood in Texas where 13 people were killed and dozens wounded by Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim follower who served there as an Army psychiatrist. People who worked alongside him muttered that Hasan was going to shoot someone someday, but were afraid to make a formal report. Had they done so, they would have been labeled hateful, racist and intolerant of his religion that he was weirdly spewing forth more every day.
One who is not afraid to call out President Barack Hussein Obama is author and commentator Dick Morris. "The Ft. Hood shooting is the first terror attack on American soil since 9/11," Morris states. He claims Obama never mentioned the word terrorism in his remarks because he wants to avoid taking the wrap for inadequately providing security for our country.
I listened last weekend to a college professor of psychiatry attempt to enlighten us by claiming Hasan suffered from "secondhand post traumatic stress disorder" from counseling soldiers returning from duty on the front lines. Ya, sure. That's why he yelled "Alah Hu Akbar!" when he commenced shooting.
Far worse was General George Casey’s statement on "Meet the Press" this last Sunday. Casey actually said: "As horrific as this [shooting] was, it would be a shame if diversity was a casualty as well." The general thought our lack of militant Muslims privy to the Army's inside secrets would be as bad as the massacre. There are peaceful Muslims, but Islam doctrine is not peaceful. The sooner we as Americans acknowledge that, the safer we will be. To find out the Muslim plan for us, read Mark Steyn's "America Alone" and perhaps there will be fewer East Valley cities helping Muslims erect their mosques.
Or, take a clue from a Valley physician who has been treating a Muslim at her office. Her Muslim patient, during his most recent visit, told the physician that his son was out of work and that the doctor should pay his rent and buy him a car. Such is the mindset that infidels should pay for everything. Forewarned is forearmed.
