Minor GP Amendment filed in Carefree

5-acre park included in change
CAREFREE – There were no requests for major General Plan Amendments filed by the May 1 deadline. An application for a minor amendment was filed because of a change in the structure of the company that purchased and applied to develop 40 acres of State Trust Land across from SkyRanch Airport in 2007.
Carefree Town Administrator Gary Neiss indicated the true change in the reorganization of Arizona Village Communities is the proposed density on the 40 acres at Mule Train and Cave Creek roads: now for 32 lots instead of the originally proposed 20 lots.
“The reorganization of the company pushed them back, and back and back,” Neiss said. Developers agreed to create a five-acre park on the property.
Neiss expects the Carefree Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Carefree Town Council, to hear the application for the development sometime this year.
