CAVE CREEK – People came from far and wide to the Buffalo Chip Saloon and Steakhouse on Saturday to express their thanks to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Chief Deputy Jerry Sheridan for their decades of service running the nation’s fourth largest sheriff’s office.
Governor Doug Ducey was there to wish them well as people lined up to have their picture taken with Arpaio and/or get an autograph.
Buffalo Chip owner Larry Wendt, himself a retired deputy chief from MCSO, put together the retirement party on short notice after only reopening the new Buffalo Chip in October, while a wedding, booked before the old Chip burned to the ground on Thanksgiving Day 2015, was taking place outside in back.
Many MCSO deputies, several who once worked out of Cave Creek’s District IV Station, including Sgt. Buddy Acritelli and Deputy Chief Dave Trombi, attended to wish their boss well.
Also attending were Russell Pearce, a former MCSO chief deputy, former Cave Creek Mayor Vincent Francia, Carefree Councilman Jim Van Allen, Cold Case Posse Lead Investigator Mike Zullo and plenty of locals. Several people even reported an Elvis sighting.
