PHOENIX – The nation’s seconds-in-command will gather in Scottsdale, Arizona this week for the National Lieutenant Governors annual business meeting. Before the formal meeting begins, Secretary Reagan is hosting a Field Study visit on Tuesday to the Mexico-Arizona Border and tour of the Mariposa Crossing and Cargo Facility.
“I’m extremely excited to welcome the National Lieutenant Governors Association to Arizona for the first time,” said Secretary Reagan. “Over the course of the meeting, we’ll be highlighting issues important to Arizonans and sending them home with a brand new perspective on the Grand Canyon State. From cybersecurity to international commerce and border security issues, Arizona’s front lines are often in the headlines. We hope the Gubernatorial Successors visit will be as educational is it will be enjoyable.”

The National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA), organized in 1962, is the professional association for the elected officials first in line of succession to the governors in the 50 states and five U.S. territories.
The purpose of NLGA is to promote efficiency and effectiveness of the office of lieutenant governor, to foster interstate cooperation, to provide a medium for the exchange of views and experiences on subjects important to the people of the states and territories, and to generally improve the efficiency of state and territorial administration through education on issues and leadership training.
